Leadership development in the present scenario is affecting the way the Church, the Biblical training institutions, the missions and the Christian social organizations develop and thrust forth leaders in society. This endeavor facilitates in healthy movements, accountability and building capacities to leadership development. At YDRD work is being done to access the areas of the Raiwind Diocese, which need strengthening in building leadership at various sectors from grassroots as we live in a multi-faith, multi-religious, multi-cultural, multi -lingual, pluralistic world. This diversity is a ground reality. In highly competitive world only those who have means and resources can make to the top and enter the elite club, leaving behind the weak and those who are without means and resources. In Church of Pakistan as well in our Diocese the young people can make a positive and meaningful contribution, provided the opportunity for their involvement is increased. Keeping this scenario in mind numerous activities and programs are formulated to provide the young with ample opportunities to nurture their God given talents and to provide them exposure to world realities; to make them mature enough to lead in future. We are striving to achieve these goals through arrangement of seminars, workshops, vigils, exposure trips, youth visits, trainings, etc. |
By the grace of God the youth department is working efficiently in the diocese from the previous two decades. In recent times seminars and workshops had been arranged on current issues which are affecting the young like globalization, leadership in the Biblical context, Christian Character and integrity, HIV/AIDS, inter-faith, pre-marriage counseling, fundamentalism & terrorism and career development. We are extremely thankful to all the diocesan pastors and the speakers who always extend their services and knowledge for the young people; we are also thankful to the Lord who has blessed us with these learned gentlemen.
Career counseling is one of the recent additions in the services of the YDRD though which we guide and make aware the young in choosing their career paths. Besides career, educational guidance is also provided; for this purpose the services of renowned educationists and professionals are rendered. Development of a job exchange is also in planning.
The contrivance of exposure trips has been ably used to teach the youngsters about the blessings that the God has bestowed on us as being Christians. Prayer vigils and services had been arranged at places like Wagah Border where we prayed for permanent peace and resolution of all the disputes between Pakistan and India so that peace can prevail. Our visit to syphen has also been a great learning experience for us where while standing in the middle of dried river Ravi we were edified that how the Lord has led the Israelites out of slavery to the promised land and how He is always on our side to protect and guide us.
Prayer vigils are an immense source of spiritual growth during which our main emphasis is always been on praying and meditation. Numerous prayer vigils had been arranged by the department precisely for the victims of Asian Tsunami, Sangla Hill incident, etc.
Networking with the young people of other dioceses and churches is also a primary concern of the youth department as we believe that sharing ideas/experiences with each other can be quite beneficial for us. Several youth conferences had been arranged by the youth department and the department also collaborated with other organizations/diocese in arrangement of conferences. Besides having youth conferences at the Diocese of Raiwind the department also sent its delegates to events arranged by other organizations/dioceses.
Besides having its own activities the diocesan youth also collaborates with the other departments of the diocese in its activities. Quite recently the youth department arranged a week long trip to Khanspur in which the department collaborated with the Women Desk of the Diocese. The annual Pakistan Christian Musical Convention is another event in which the youth plays a vital role in handling the security services and also as being the part of the United Choir.
